How do I use multiple TakeraEins skins at the same time in Lock On?

I will show you the quickest way:

  1. Open ModMan, go to the AddOn Manager and install the additional TakeraEins skin you want to use, e.g. TakeraEins Black-Blue-Rays (bow-tail).
  2. Exit the AddOn Manager and go to the CDDS Browser included in ModMan.
  3. Open the CDDS file you have extracted in step 1 inserting the path in CDDS File Path, e.g. YourPathToLockOn\Bazar\World\Su33TakeraEins_s_j_bl_vht.cdds.
  4. First select SU-33-SKIN-L-03.bmp and hit on Extract. A new dialog opens.
  5. In the dialog select BMP as Output File Format, check 2048x2048 in Resolution Selection (use 1024x1024 or below only if you have an video card with 128MB VRam or less) and click Extract. The file is extracted to your ModMan folder by default.
  6. Now repeat steps 4 & 5 to extract the file SU-33-SKIN-R-03.bmp as well.
  7. Close the CDDS Browser and ModMan, browse to the folder where you have extracted the BMP files to and rename the files the following way:
    • SU-33-SKIN-L-03-2048x2048.bmp to SU-33-SKIN-L-04.bmp
    • SU-33-SKIN-R-03-2048x2048.bmp to SU-33-SKIN-R-04.bmp
  8. Copy the two files to YourPathToLockOn\Bazar\TempTextures.
  9. Open ModMan, go to the AddOn Manager and uninstall the TakeraEins skin you have installed in step 1. Install another TakeraEins skin you want to use. Close ModMan.

When you go to the Mission Editor in Lock On, inserting two Su-33 and view the Payload page. Now you can select Standard-1 NAVY to get the skin installed in step 9 and select Standard-2 NAVY to get the skin we have extracted.

You can have up to six TakeraEins skins at the same time. For every skin, repeat the steps. In step 7, the following file names are allowed (the number defines the skin slot that is used):

  • SU-33-SKIN-L-01.bmp, SU-33-SKIN-R-01.bmp
  • SU-33-SKIN-L-02.bmp, SU-33-SKIN-R-02.bmp
  • SU-33-SKIN-L-04.bmp, SU-33-SKIN-R-04.bmp
  • SU-33-SKIN-L-05.bmp, SU-33-SKIN-R-05.bmp
  • SU-33-SKIN-L-06.bmp, SU-33-SKIN-R-06.bmp

Slot 3 is used when installing a TakeraEins skin with ModMan.

Thanks for your attention! Hf with the skins.

    • Example placement in the "R" file (click on thumbnail):

Simply give your fancy full scope! When you are satisfied, save the files with their original filename as 24bit BMP.

  10. Copy the two files to YourPathToLockOn\Bazar\TempTextures. Ingame, choose the skin Standard-1 NAVY and enjoy!
  11. OPTIONAL: If you don't want to have the red star and the numbers appearing on your aircraft, extract this package into the folder YourPathToLockOn\Bazar\TempTextures.

Here is an example for the ingame appearance:

I have used a TakeraEins Black skin and changed its colours a bit.
